New Works at Identity Theft April 16th Opening at Foound in Geneva, Switzerland
At the crux of Luttrell's creative process is the universal relationship our bodies and minds have with chaos and the means in which we attempt to control it. Identity Thef is a series of work that questions if progress within a system is really a change for the better or if it is an epidemic causing an inevitable breakdown due to our obsession with moving forward.
The process, which lends to the subject matter of the works, begins with internet-based images of patents - the blueprints of ideas - creating the byproduct of our highly technical world. These images are then transferred onto paper, replicating the same way in which information is reproduced and how quickly and easily it becomes entangled. What results are meticulously layered paintings that form new relationships and meanings while questioning how chaos manifests itself within these worlds.
